If you’re a boxing fan, you may be disappointed to hear that Oscar de la Hoya may not end up fighting this May. Apparently he has backed off on plans for a fight in May, but is looking to the future for a more exciting match in September. If the planning works out, it’s quite possible that there will be a big money rematch with Oscar de la Hoya against Floyd Mayweather. If Golden Boy Productions’ CEO Richard Schaefer is able to work out the business side of things, it looks like this fight will indeed happen on either September 13 or 20 of 2008.
When de la Hoya and Mayweather had a match last Spring, they shattered box office records. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did it again, especially considering that the last match ended up in a split decision in Mayweather’s favor. Even without the historical excitement of it all, I would guess that when you put two of the most popular fighters in modern boxing in the ring together that you’re pretty much guaranteed a good match (and record crowds).
If you have ever been interested in seeing an epic boxing battle, this is probably the one to catch. And if you’re interested, this is most definitely the time to start looking for your Oscar De La Hoya vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. tickets. So don’t miss this epic battle, it’s going to be a good one!
