Today, and actually before now, one of my cable boxes turns off erratically. Approximately every ten minutes it turns off, stays off for about 5 minutes, then resets and works again. I called customer “service” today about it, and they claim that there is an outage in my area right now. As you can see, my cable modem is working fine, and when my cable box is on, my TV also works fine. Every time I have called Charter in the past month (way too many times if you ask me), I have been told that I cannot schedule an appointment.
The first time, my high speed Internet was intermittent. The problem with that is that I do a lot of online work from home, and also have digital phone service. Pretty much when my Internet is down, I’m stuck. I was told that time that the calendaring system was down, and to call back the next day when it should be working again.
Today, when I called about my cable box issue, I was told that “there is an outage in my area.” Like I said, it doesn’t look like an outage to me since when the box works, the cable works. Since there is an alleged outage in my area, the representative (a nice lady named Alex with an East Indian accent) would not schedule an appointment. She said that even if she were to schedule one, the technician would just delete it since it was created during an outage. I wish I could do that with my appointments- just dump them because I felt like it. Alas, my non-monopoly doesn’t work that way.
Honestly, I am hurt by Charter’s interpretation of “customer service.” I open up my home to you, and PAY YOU to transmit your mind-numbing brainwashing directly into my home, and you show no interest in helping me reestablish my connection to the lies from the outside world. I would think that for $100+ a month, you might want to keep me sleeping with the sheep. But that’s just me, I obviously have no idea what customer service is or I would be the one charging poor bastards lots of money every month to feed them lies, and not you.
Thanks,
Liam
