John Mark Karr and Terrorists and Kidnapped Reporters, OH MY!

If you have been paying any attention to the headlines in the news lately, you may have noticed the insane amount of distractors being put out there lately. These distractors are stupid crap news stories put out there solely to distract the American Public and the people of the world from the real news, and more importantly to keep the real shit off our minds.

“Exciting” news stories like these keep our minds off our worries about how the hell we’re going to fill up our gas tank and get to work if gas prices continue to soar, how we’re going to pay the electric bill when energy prices are soaring, and more importantly it keeps us from realizing that our country is STILL being stolen from us by corporations and crooked politicians.

John Mark Karr, possible killer of JonBenet Ramsey, has been in the headlines all week. Honestly, who gives a shit about this guy? Even a legal analyst lady from Fox News (of all places) admitted that the DA’s case against this guy will be weak at best even with his confession. So why waste your time reading news about this guy?

The “terrorist threats” in England have also been hogging up their share of the headlines. I saw today in NSA Today…err, USA Today, rather…that eleven of the arrested men haven’t even been charged yet. The charges that have been filed against some of the “terrorists” are flimsy at best. But man, what a great way to build up the fear…oh, and what a great way to drum up support for the warmongering GOP just before an election that will hopefully kick them out of office. Not to mention that Bush’s approval rating is up after the arrests as well.

So good work, neocon bastards. Your distraction techniques keep the average (and even the above-average) American mind off of the things that really matter. Things like the fucking pathetic fact that New Orleans is still a mess (having a goal of opening 35% of the public schools is NOT progress), and Bush’s admission that Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11 (surprise, surprise), get swept under the news that we get spoon-fed.
