Has any other US President killed as many citizens as GWB?

I was just thinking about it, and wonder if any other President in the history of the United States has presided over the mass slaughter of as many civilians as George W. Bush?

To start it all off, 2,819 civilians were killed in the attacks of 9/11/2001. Following that, 1,400 people were killed when Katrina hit the gulf states. That’s a total of 4,219 civilians so far. And that’s not counting the thousands of 9/11 rescue workers who have been plagued and killed by lung problems after the fact.

Of course we have had tragedies in our past. The death toll for the San Francisco earthquake of 1906 was estimated at 3,000. And obviously murder rates fluctuate and people die, but I’m talking about mass casualties, not overall casualties.

So I really think that George takes the cake. Congratulations George W. Bush, you’re the winner of the “Which President Can Kill the Most Citizens Award”! Nice work.
