There’s nothing like blaming technology for your problems…

Normally, I don’t have any problem with “old people.” In fact I quite enjoy them, as they have so many stories and so much knowledge to share. However, when old folk become intolerant of change and progress, it drives me fucking nuts.

This is not all old people, mind you. I have a number of senior citizens who are clients of mine, and most all of them run the lastest and greatest computers, and absolutely love being online to stay in touch with family and world events.

However, there are some old people (who are frequently more mentally old than physically) who hun any change in the world, mainly technology. There’s a great clip from George H. W. Bush (”Old Man Bushie”) from last night talking about how electronic media is to blame for the coldness and spite that’s going on in politics right now.

It’s ignorance like this that drives me fucking insane. In this clip, Bush blames “bloggers” for ruining the political climate. This is such a load of crap that it’s silly. Since the dawn of time, when cave men were writing on stone tablets (stay with me here), I would bet that people were writing commentary that could be considered “political” about their friends and enemies. The only difference with electronic media (the Internet specifically) is that everyone can have a voice.

I know that Old Man Bushie is a fan of his son, but the fact that very few people in the US share his right now is not the fault of “electronic media” and “bloggers.”
