How to Be A Decent Person: Don’t hit pedestrians and run

In yet another installment of the LiamFerris.com exclusive series “How to Be A Decent Person,” today I present ideas on not harming your fellow man. It seems that people just don’t understand that we’re all here to help each other out, and not harm one another. You would think that’s a simple concept, but apparently it’s not.

Take, for example, this surveillance camera (ugh) video of a white SUV hitting a pedestrian in a crosswalk. The SUV literally drives over a pedestrian, stops, then finishes driving over him and pulls over. The driver gets out of the SUV and goes to check on the victim. Take a look to see what happens next:

Now I understand being afraid of seriously injuring someone, the resulting lawsuit, and your insurance costs going through the roof. But seriously, are we as a society that fucked up that we can’t see through all that in order to help a fellow human being? Are we really that self-centered that we’ll seriously injure a fellow human and not do anything to help?

Even worse are the assholes who witnessed the incident and just drove or walked by. Basically this man was hit by an SUV and left to die in the gutter by his fellow human beings. How fucking sick is that?

We’re in this together, my friends. We need to help each other out. How hard would it have been for just one person to call 911 on their cell phone, or for one car to write down the SUV’s license plate number and pull over to give it to the victim? Not that fucking hard, folks. Take one minute out of your day to help someone in need out. Things would be so much better in this country if we would just stop being ambivalent and just GET THE FUCK INVOLVED.
