2007 $20 Halloween Prop Contest: Materials List

Halloween-L is having a $20 prop contest. Basically what that means is that you have to make the best Halloween prop for $20 or less. Whoever wins gets some kind of prize, and the coveted title of “Miss/Mr. $20 Prop Contest 2007.” Needless to say, I signed up.

This here is my first post in the contest. Technically it’s supposed to end on May 1, 2007, but it’s looking like there may be an extension. Anyway, this is my list of materials:

  • Fake fur (2 yards)…………………………………….$3 on sale from Joann Fabric
  • 9 gauge multi use wire (12.5 feet)…………………$2 (1/4 of a 50 foot roll for $8 from Lowe’s)
  • Newspaper (1/2 of the Sunday LA Times)…………$.50
  • Pool noodles (2)……………………………………….$2.58 (Big!Lots)
  • PVC (10′) and elbows…………………………………$8 (Lowe’s)
  • Wallpaper paste (1/2 box)…………………………..$1.75 (Lowe’s)
  • Hot glue (5 sticks)…………………………………….$.50
  • Blow mold skull……………………………………….$.99 (Big!Lots)
  • Bouncy ball eyeballs………………………………….$.50 (Target)

So that’s my parts list. The total comes to $19.82, so hopefully I won’t need anything else. I have started building, but have a long way to go.

Oh, and no I’m not telling you what it’s going to be. You’ll have to guess.
