I have been in Salt Lake City for a little under 24 hours now, and holy crap are the street names weird here. There are a few normally named streets, like State St, and Main St, but most of the streets here are named something like “W 600 S.” To compound the confusion, there are also streets named “S 600 W.” As if that weren’t enough, at some points “W 600 S” turns into “W 6th S” then turns back into “W 600 S.”
Oh, and there are also three different Temple Streets. One is “E S Temple,” one is “E N Temple,” (which are thankfully parallel), but the third Temple Street, “S W Temple,” runs perpendicular to the other two Temple Streets.
I’m actually starting to get it though, I’m happy to report. Almost. Maybe another day and I’ll have this perplexing Mormon street naming convention down. I’ll let you know how it goes.
