Super Tuesday - Voter information for LA and OC

I just had an article published at AssociatedContent that may be helpful for those of you in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas should you need voter information today. It’s located here:

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/583251/where_and_how_to_vote_on_super_tuesday.html

No matter what you stand for, go out there and make your voice heard. That’s what makes our country work, and you should be proud to be a part of it. Now step away from the computer and VOTE!!

Switching for Ron Paul

If you believe in what Ron Paul can do for America, and really want to see a positive change in our country, he needs your support! A great way to show your support is to make a financial donation to Ron Paul’s campaign. And whether you can contribute financially or not, a great way to support Dr. Paul is to register Republican before your state’s primaries. If you’re not a registered Republican and you live in a state with closed primaries, you will not be allowed to vote for Ron Paul in the primaries.

You can find out more about your state’s primary elections, and find a link to re-register using RonPaul2008.com.

And don’t forget, you can always re-register back to your old party affiliation after the primaries.

Civil unrest in New Orleans… good work!

In case you haven’t heard, yesterday there was some good, old fashioned civil unrest in New Orleans. The City Council was slated to approve a measure that would authorize a HUD plan for the city. The plan would cause the demolition of many perfectly fine low income housing buildings and the replacement thereof by wood frame mid-income buildings. The low income housing buildings were not damaged beyond repair by Katrina, and it is speculated that the plan is really aimed at allowing as few low income past residents from returning to the city as possible.

I really want to commend the people of New Orleans, though. When the gates to City Hall were closed and locked and the protesters were not allowed into what was legally supposed to be a public meeting, a bit of a riot broke out.

The spin that was put on this incident by the news reporters was pathetic. Never did the reporters mention that the protesters are legally allowed to enter a City Council meeting. They just made them out to be wild hounds that broke through a gate they had no business being behind.

I have a strong feeling that our New Revolution will begin in New Orleans. With the way the residents have been shit on, slandered and abused in the time since Katrina, they have really been left with nothing to lose. And when people are left with nothing to lose, it makes it a shitload easier to rise up.

I have the utmost respect for the people of New Orleans who are still fighting for what they believe is right. Even though they have endured more abuse by the government than anyone in an allegedly free nation should endure, they continue to fight for their city. My hope is that the People of the United States will take a cue from the People of New Orleans, and rise up to save our country from certain doom.

The National Initiative for Democracy

Are you sick of “our” government not representing its constituents? Are you tired of your needs not being met because billions of dollars are going into the greedy pockets of a very few super elite rich folk? If you want to take the power back, and put it bac in the hands of American Citizens where it belongs, check out The National Initiative for Democracy.

In their own words,

The National Initiative for Democracy is a proposed law developed by The Democracy Foundation, over the past decade, along with a plan to get it enacted by the people (not by the government) creating, for the first time, a government “by you, the people.”

Check out the video to see what it’s all about, and then visit the website and vote in favor of it!

Mark Klein, AT&T Whistleblower - “They’re tapping into the entire Internet.”

Check out this video from AT&T whistleblower Mark Klein. He’s an ex-AT&T technician who has firsthand knowledge of the surveillance that AT&T has been doing on the government’s behalf. He’s currently lobbying against giving telecom companies retroactive immunity like the Bush Administration would like to bestow upon them.

Well that didn’t help much…Blackwater is back in action.

As of today, Blackwater has resumed operations in Iraq. Even after killing unknown numbers of innocent Iraqi civilians, Blackwater’s boys (and girls?) are back on the streets of Baghdad.

As stated in the article, “A top aide to Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki had earlier conceded it may prove difficult for the Iraqi government to follow through on threats to expel Blackwater and other Western security contractors.” Well yeah it fucking would! I would argue that it would be even more difficult to kick out the Blackwater folks than it would to kick out the United States military.

Seriously, Blackwater’s troops are heavily armed and completely immune to any rule of law anywhere worldwide. How in the fuck would be Iraqi government kick them out?

It’s ridiculous that our government is allowing their mercenaries to remain in Iraq, much less still paying these assholes. It really is no accident that Mr. Prince, the guy who runs Blackwater, is a Bush family friend and Christian extremist. His company will get away with anything, no matter what.

We need to express our outrage at the resuming of Blackwater activity in Iraq without a proper investigation into what they are doing. At the least, oeprations should be suspended until a conclusion can be reached. Call your representatives and let them know how pissed you are that your tax dollars are going to pay these assholes.

Restore Habeas Corpus!

Senators Leahy and Dodd have co-sponsored a bill to restore Habeas Corpus, a Constitutional right that American Citizens have been deprived of for too long now. It’s about time that someone stepped up and made an attenpt to fix what BushCo has broken. If you visit the website, Restore-Habeas.orgyou can sign on as a co-sponsor to show your support for the bill.

Here’s a video of Senator Leahy speaking about the bill:

And one of Senator Dodd speaking about the bill:

Here are the results of a whip count, which is an informal poll of the leanings of senators. If you click on the image below, you can see who is leaning which way. If one of your Senators is leaning toward no, be sure and call and give them an earful. Even if they’re leaning towards yes, call them and tell them you support their yes vote. Let’s make this happen!

If you’re a Californian, you have a chance to make history

As you may have heard, the California state assembly has passed Assembly Bill 43, sponsored by Equality California and authored by Assemblymember Mark Leno, D-San Francisco, which would make gay marriage legal in California. Back in 2005, the assembly passed a similar bill, and the Governator vetoed it. He is expected to do the same this time unless we can let him know how important equality is to the people of California.

You can make your voice heard! Sign the petition today, and make California a truly equal state.

This is embarrassing: Katrina, two years later.

Today, as you may or may not know, is the two year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Also as you may or may not know, things are not any better down in New Orleans than they were two years ago. Families have been split up, senior citizens are living in conditions comparable to third world countries, and the affected areas are still an absolute mess.

How in the fuck, in the United States of America, are citizens allowed to live like this? While George Bush lines his rich friends’ pockets with war profits and no-bid contracts, American citizens are left to waste away in what was once one of America’s most amazing cities.

It truly is an embarrassment to see this happening to such kind and well meaning people. And as much as no one wants to admit it, this is a race war. If an earthquake hit California, especially Orange County, you would get whiplash watching the federal reconstruction funds roll in. But down in Louisiana where the poor folks live, our government could give a fuck.

Contact your representatives!

If you are as outraged as I am after reading George W. Bush’s Executive Order: Blocking Property of Certain Persons Who Threaten Stabilization Efforts in Iraq, you need to contact your representatives. That’s what they are there for. To make it easier, I added an action alert to my page at RallyCongress.com. The letter is prewritten (but you can add and edit the letter if you want to), all you need to do is type in your address and send it. DO IT NOW.

RallyCongress: Ask Your Senators And Representatives To Question George Bush’s Executive Order

Besides that, we really do need to impeach these fuckers. I have written a letter to that effect too, follow this link to send your reps a letter about that too.

Take action, friends! Together, we patriots can save the country.
