Keith Olbermann comes through again.

With the ongoing battle between former President Clinton and FOX “News,” it’s about time someone from the mainstream media came out and spoke up against the insanity. Keith Olbermann, as usual, came through:

Google SketchUp and my Halloween plans…

I remember hearing about Google SketchUp before, but never bothered downloading it. I tried 3DS back in the day and was completely useless at it, so avoided SketckUp like the plague. Upon consideration today though, I realized that SketchUp could greatly benefit my Halloween planning efforts.

So I downloaded SketchUp, followed the built-in tutorials, and started building my first project. It’s nothing pretty, but neither will the finished product be. I have planned on building a facade for my haunt this year, and sketched it out on graph paper yesterday. Tonight I did a 3D model of it in SketchUp, which I am fairly pleased with. Like I said, it’s nothing amazing, but here it goes:

New laser light effect…perfect for Halloween!

As all of you know, I love Halloween, and am on a constant search for effects, props, lights, and whatever else might help my haunt be that much better. I just found this awesome new LaserVibe Personal Laser Show that is much cooler than those cheap laser light show units from a few years back.

The coolest part of the LaserVibe is that it responds to music in an original and exciting way, which will most definitely spice up your party (or my haunt). It’s only $59 right now for LaserVibe Red, so you already get a great price break from the $99 list price.

Check out the company’s website (linked above), and take a look at the demo videos. It’s a really cool contraption… I’m definitely buying one for my haunt.

The new Halloween flicker lantern

Last year I created a flicker flame lantern out of a kerosene lantern, a candelabra base, and a flicker bulb. I wasn’t too happy with how they came out last year, so this year I completely pulled them apart and redid them. This refurb job pretty much consisted of mounting the candelabra base more securely and tacking it down with hot glue, routing the power cord better, and aging the lantern with a few coats of brown and black spray paint.

I am really happy with how they came out, and am even thinking of selling them if people are interested. If yo are interested, drop me a line at lpferris[at]gmail.com. I’m asking $10 per lantern plus $8 shipping. Here’s a picture so you can see it. I’ll make a video of it so you can see how cool it looks too.

SNL 9/11 Truth skit

This is a sketch from SNL that addresses the insider trading before 9/11. I know for a fact that at least one SNL cast member is famliar and on board with the 9/11 truth movement…if stuff like this is showing up on a mainstream show, the movement must be gaining ground. Excellent work, SNL!

A quick Halloween update…

Sadly, this weekend I was too busy to really work on any new Halloween projects. I did clean out part of my garage, which is quite a feat in itself. I did, however, decide what to make my facade out of, and will start that this week hopefully. It will most likely consist of a number of large Dell computer boxes flattened and reinforced with 1 1/2″ wood around the edges. I’ll keep you posted as this develops.
